Looks like @arstechnica is now verified on here! Always great to see this feature used. It'll be even more prominent in the future.

I just watched an entire t-ball game without checking Mastodon. I want a medal...or a cookie. Or a cookie medal I can eat, preferably. Please boost to maximize the chance of this becoming reality.

So, Big Journalism has decided to adopt the Republican framing of their debt-ceiling extortion:

It's on Biden to solve the problem, because the Republicans are just one side of the issue and have an equally compelling argument to make, never mind that they are recklessly -- and deliberately -- on the verge of tanking the US and global economy.

Is there any hope for honest political journalism at major outlets?

The famous statue of two kissing lovers sailor and nurse on the waterfront of Civitavecchia near Rome. The statue is based on a photograph taken by American photographer Alfred Eisenstadt in new York on August 14, 1945, in connection with the end of World war II.

Bloom of the day is an interesting one… the scary, but beautiful Datura Inoxia, also referred to as the Devil’s Weed or Hell’s Bells. It has blooms the size of dinner plates, with a beautiful ghostly lavender edge. Datura is associated with #Witchcraft and #occult practices. It contains the substance scopolamine, which is the truth serum compound. It is also supposed to produce the most intense, awful, longest lasting psychedelic experience so we don’t touch it! #gardening #flowers #nature

Good night Fediversistas. Before you go to bed. Take a beat. Have something to look forward to. All the time. Live now, look ahead. Then you can sleep as well as this. #Bobies

So here's the thing.

In my ENTIRE life...I have never once seen a red door and thought "I want to paint that black."

But now I live in this little brick cape cod with a red door that has a shitty paint job. And honestly? Black is the best color.

So now...I DO see a red door and I want to paint it black.

Hi everyone! Our granddaughter has named our new baby "Pax." We love the name! A reminder that we all need peace.

Twitter is dying, but my advocacy work helping trans people raise money via fundraisers depends on my five years of work I've spent writing on Twitter, so I need help.

If you're a trans person who needs help raising money for any reason, reply to this toot with your fundraiser. I'll reach out.

If you're a cis person and you can, please boost this post so your trans followers can see it.

It's Throwback Thursday! Billy Tipton was a saxophonist and pianist who was popular in the 1940s and 1950s. When he died in 1989, people found out that he was trans. Trans people have always been part of our communities.

To believe that Koreans would choose #Japan as ally is ignoring more then 1000 years of #History and more important to clean a continual attempt to eradicate #Korean culture and genocide of Koreans, all since the 7th century ad.

@BlackAzizAnansi this is so typical of this space…folx will bitch and moan about the issues that matter to them PERSONALLY with no regard to how their behavior negatively IMPACT others more vulnerable…this is why I’ve adopted “all this shit is fucked up” because, as a Black woman, I can’t tell the difference
