I just want to say for my first post to the #Fediverse that I've already seen more #alttext in the last couple of days than I've literally seen in my entire life. I don't know what it is, but as a blind user it's making me emotional to be able to actually interact with content. Think I'll write an introduction soon.

Last night #Russia fired 10 "Kalibr" cruise missiles at #Lviv in Western #Ukraine. Three missiles managed to get through air defense and one hit a residential building, there's 4 killed civilians confirmed for now. Note the massive damage to the series of buildings, looks like the historic town center. Lviv is a beautiful old town where I was many times before the war, much recommend visiting when it ends.

This just caught me out in my ‘on this day’ 4 years ago. I miss the tabby terror so much. There’s been a marked lack of joy in our lives since we lost him last year. He was a very special boy.

Thank you for your patience. After observing the first 24 hours of Threads, we decided to block threads.net (in advance of them at some point joining the Fediverse).

There are openly, aggressively transphobic accounts on Threads.net with no visible attempt at moderation. We would defederate from any other Fediverse instance with that behaviour and no moderation, and there is no reason to treat threads.net any different.

Realized recently that I’ve only blocked 7 accounts in the 7 months I’ve been here. Most of those were also blocked by my instance for bad behavior. It’s nice to feel empowered to keep my timeline stress free here on Mastodon.
