Beautiful and annoying

These rock pigeons are among a bunch that visit my back yard regularly. They can be annoying and eat all the bird seed. But they are pretty and incredibly graceful in flight. They're doves, you know.

In 2016, Trump said we should vote for him because he had devised a secret plan that was guaranteed to defeat ISIS in 30 days. He said he was "smarter than the generals." He wouldn't say what the plan was.

The press was like, "Trump offers a bold new vision for a safer world!"

It's been seven years now. Let's stop letting him use the entire political press corps as his own personal publicity department.

WTF has happened to our country? One party's frontrunner was unanimously adjudged a rapist by a federal jury, his namesake company was convicted of tax fraud, and he's under indictment for 91 felony counts in 4 different jurisdictions.

#Trump followers stormed the capital trying to block the peaceful transition of power. He calls them patriots and pledges to pardon them, which will only embolden more followers to commit more crimes in his name.

He attacks the prosecutors, judges and witnesses, vowing to go after them, while his followers dox the grand jurors and threaten a federal judge.

Meanwhile, the GOP sits by in silence, as if any part of this is normal??? These are warning signs of a nation on the precipice, and should not be ignored due to cowardice, or to political expediency

Can the 236 year-old American experiment in democracy survive a cult built around a dangerous and autocratic criminal?

A lot of people will have seen the recent news about FIDE banning trans players. It will probably be surprising, unsettling, disturbing to most people but after a few days will be out of their thoughts.

As a chess player with trans friends in and out of the chess community, it will be an issue that I'll be closely watching.

In my opinion, it is part of a wider range of non inclusive (bigoted) issues in the chess world. I wrote about it, and have been battling on chess forums for the past 24 hours...
