Not being an USA citizen, am I to understand that one person can stop the sale of a medication but no one can stop all the gun violence? Did I get that right?! #GunVoilence #abortion #fascism #landofthefree

My favorite memories are always the hikes we had in Maryland. #silentsunday #hiking #nature #photography

The number of children and teens killed by gunfire in the United States increased 50% between 2019 and 2021.
FIFTY PERCENT. IN TWO YEARS. I keep pretty close tabs on these statistics and I had no idea it was that bad.

Meet Nebraska State Senator Machaela Cavanaugh

Beginning in February, she has filibustered every single bill that has come before the legislature. Nothing has passed

Why?

She’s filibustering LB574, a Republican made bill that would ban gender-affirming care for anyone under 19

She talks up to 12 hours a day to keep hate from becoming law

Hero.

It's been just over 2 years since JAXA's #Hayabusa2 mission returned to Earth with a sample from #asteroid #Ryugu. Journal papers have started to pour in from the initial analysis, but each only looks at a particular facet of the sample, and it can be overwhelming to follow and piece together. So we made a chalkboard video at ISAS highlighting a few of the trends seen across the publications! (This is based on a talk by Tachibana Shogo: Hayabusa2 Initial Analysis Team Manager)

Eastern Nation of Modidschod

We're hosting some German friends for a few days, and yesterday I gave them an improvised walking tour of historic Philadelphia. As we headed back to the car, we passed yet more #FoundingFathers iconography, and conversation ensued.

Let me tell you, it really focuses the mind when a German observes that Americans seem unusually susceptible to political hero-worship.

This Canada Goose was sitting motionless in a brook when I walked by today. They had their eye on me. I sometimes wonder what it's like having your eyes on the sides of your head instead of in the front.
