The Battle of Midway (June 4-5, 1942) was one of the iconic and stunning battles of WW2. Four of the six carriers that had participated in Pearl Harbor were sunk by the US: Akagi, Kaga, Soryu, and Hiryu. 3057 Japanese soldiers were killed, compared to just 307 US soldiers.

The Allies 1st major naval victory against the Japanese cleared the way for the Guadalcanal Campaign which, along with Midway, is considered the turning point of the Pacific.
