This is one of the last Community Transmission maps we will have. It is looking better for much of the country but I wonder to what degree it looks better due to decreased testing and reporting.

After I stopped, I put up a post directing people to find me elsewhere. Some did, some did not.

I got here a little after my friend @gnitro who had already started to settle into the #Fediverse before me. After arriving, I met folks like @CliffWade @Mrfunkedude who helped with such a welcoming environment here on #Mastodon.

Over time, I met some admins of great Instances like @neatchee @britt @jcrabapple @chikorita157 who introduced me to more cool content.

And after that I learned more about Fediverse integration and made a #Pixelfed account that I use on the regular @mdmrn@pixelfed.social.

Tesla falsely claimed, in court, that incriminating video of EM being EM was deepfaked. There's a name for this tactic: The Liar's Dividend.

As @samgregory told me & @jesse when we interviewed him for our forthcoming book THE SECRET LIFE OF DATA, this is the greatest threat of #deepfakes: giving autocrats & human rights abusers plausible deniability.

Tesla's use of this tactic is...problematic. Thankfully the judge ain't buying it.

I tooted Hello World on November 30, 2022.

Then I began tooting my #music and a ton of #puns #jokes, and #memes. And you all responded so genuinely, and with such positivity, that I very quickly was made to feel at home.

My deepest gratitude goes out to the #Mastodon community, a #community that has literally improved the quality of my time on this spinning rock as it hurtles through space, towards a future that seems more uncertain every day. It’s unlike any other “social media platform” here.

Today, I celebrate the arbitrary milestone of five thousand followers, and I just wanted to say thank you.

Thank you for your conversations, discussions, and corrections.

Thank you for listening to my music and sharing your thoughts on it with me, and for following along on your chosen streaming service. This has been amazing.

There is a small but dedicated faction of shitposters that have made it their mission to ensure #bluesky is never a viable alternative to Twitter for professionals and I think that's beautiful.

I just learned there is a type of #bird in #Japan called Shima Enaga and it is so goddamn #cute I'm pissed that I'm just now learning about it. Look at it. LOOK AT IT! IT'S MADE OF SUNLIGHT AND SASS!

Mastodon is highly likely to hit 12 million accounts next month.

It hit 11 million accounts this month. And it hit 10 million accounts last month.

What I'm getting at is that Mastodon is trending towards ~1 million accounts per month.

I'm old enough to remember when a former President or presidential candidate being accused of rape was a deal breaker with a political party. Flash forward to the 2023 GOP; such an accusation is either a point in the plus column for an unnervingly large swath of their voters or something voters are willing to overlook. Either way, despite or because of the accusations, he will probably still be the nominee.
