I read the paper on using gzip as a text classifier that performs better than #LLM classifiers, and I have a few questions that I hope someone could help me answer:

What are some example strings used for comparison (the “training set” in the source code)?

I see the performance of gzip improve as it goes from 10 to 50 “shots”. What is a “shot” in this gzip-based world?

I'm humbled by those on the fediverse who recommended me to a new family of followers. You are all too kind! Lives have been literally lost, both by people spreading lies during the pandemic, and by bigoted rhetoric targeting women and marginalized groups. Legitimizing such views as just "difference of opinion" instead of challenging them for what they are only causes further harm.

Basically, guys, capital is paying attention.

Labor has been under concerted attack by the fascists (Republicans) since the Southern switch/Southern Strategy. Reagan dealt working Americans so many blows, they’ve only gotten worse since then.

We need to win this one. Every nation’s apathetic center needs strong unions to defeat fascism & keep democracy - even if they don’t realize it.

I can’t stress how quickly we need to build union strength, or how much US labor stands to gain. Or lose.
