How's everyone doing? It's post thunderstorms here and if the rain stops I'm taking a walk. The temperature dropped 25 degrees in an hour here in St. Louis and it's a reasonable 70°F/22°C.

This week, I went over to Bluesky and asked people who'd left Mastodon why they left, and lots of people told me. I grabbed the replies and crunched them and wrote up a summary. I think it's really interesting and often kind of wrenching.

Hate it when you tell someone you just aren't that into them anymore and then they get all clingy. My kids are pathetic.

Anyway, when I look at the #media reporting on Trump’s dinner with the Holocaust deniers, or the media’s coverage of DeSantis, I do not get the feeling that they have any awareness of what white supremacists are doing or how they are reacting to any of this, and that is a huge mistake. They are now a player in American politics, and we cannot ignore them any longer. January 6 could not have happened without them. Letting them pass under the radar is exactly what they want.

I've been away from home, and haven't had time to do any extra drawing for a while.

So, I got to work right after getting home. I'm having a lot of fun wit this sea weed inspired pattern. I might bring this to one of my upcoming events in the Fall.

Also people need to understand that the white South Africans that infest (and yeah I'll phrase it that way) the Anglophone tech scene very genuinely want to engineer a return to the homeland in conquering triumph. They want to restore white rule to the whole of southern Africa and have accepted that they need to do a shitload of violence to accomplish this. They are dyed-in-the-wool white supremacists and everything they do must be viewed through that lens.

So... in the US we now have an "anti-library" party. It's remarkable how many ways republicans keep coming for libraries and librarians. From the stuff in Houston where they are turning libraries into "discipline centers" and firing librarians. To the books bans and empty shelves in Florida.

Libraries are powerful and important, and if this doesn't make that clear? I don't know what will.
