@accretionist@techhub.social And that's what Black and Brown folks have been saying since we arrived.
The fedi is festered with the same entitlement and hate for safe spaces as any centralized service.
The fedi could be better, but as of right now, it's just not.
And many people want to keep it that way because they are terrified of the consequences for their actions.
I caught sight of this fox hunting, lost him in the tall grass. He came from behind a hill, caught sight of me and took off. Then he watched me from atop the hill and all was good! https://belinda-greb.pixels.com/featured/fox-smiling-down-at-me-from-a-hill-at-iwetemlaykin-belinda-greb.html #wildlifephotography #redfox #AYearforArt
“Here is a statistic that does matter: Three quarters of Americans believe the Bible teaches that “God helps those who help themselves.” That is, three out of four Americans believe that this uber-American idea, a notion at the core of our current individualist politics and culture, which was in fact uttered by Ben Franklin, actually appears in Holy Scripture. The thing is, not only is Franklin's wisdom not biblical; it's counter-biblical. Few ideas could be further from the gospel message, with its radical summons to love of neighbor. On this essential matter, most Americans—most American Christians—are simply wrong, as if 75 percent of American scientists believed that Newton proved gravity causes apples to fly up.”

Did you know (I didn't) that analogue phones are going to be phased out by 2025? There are going to be a lot of people, especially the elderly, who have nothing else to connect them to their family and friends. We ourselves have a landline and are glad of it, and can't think of how we would hook up an internet phone for each room. Maybe it will be easier than we think but this news is alarming, as is the prospect of many people being scammed about it.

"We’ve all heard how everyone’s equal at the foot of the Cross. That doesn’t seem to apply to LGBTQ+ people, however, according to many Christians. In fact, the disgust and hatred of LGBTQ+ people among many Christians (are) so great that they eagerly accept, tell, create and repeat lies and falsehoods about the queer community and work actively to limit, roll back and deny civil and human rights to (them)."

In their quest to develop a process for 3D printing nanoscale structures, Caltech researchers succeeded, but also discovered something unexpected: The things they printed were coming out stronger than expected.
Now they know why.
It's my latest for work:
This story is crazy. A small town Texas bigot tries to run a gay couple out of town, but in the process of fighting back, they discover that the bigot has been embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars from the town. So she apparently burned down the town hall, fled the state, and is living homeless in a Colorado park.
Mostly reclusive and carrying slightly damaged goods. A survivor by some accounts. Definitely in need of much therapy. ;)
Staunchly anti-fascist
Bear in mind that, while I may "like" your "toot", about a person, event or particular topic, if it links to the "bird-site" I will no longer boost and inadvertently contribute to their grift. Everyone has a choice and a part to play when crimes go unpunished.
