I love how I can make notes on someone's profile. Like, "boosted a super sexist joke"

Right, signing off here until sometime on Monday. It's been a chaotic kind of week, but we survived.

Thanks for your chats, encouragement, hanging-outness.

I'm glad I'm here.

Take care // #StaySafe // #BeKind

Mastodon News

In case you missed it, this is huge!

Folks, perhaps the biggest Fediverse news of the week (the month? year?) is that the W3C, essentially the organization that manages the entire internet, has shut down its social media presence on Twitter and moved to Mastodon. W3C is also encouraging others to do the same.

"W3C has posted that we are no longer active on X/Twitter and have directed all our followers here to Mastodon." >>> w3c.social/@w3c/11153470027675

I blame Donald Trump and his MAGA cult for blocking military aid to Ukraine on behalf of Trump's idol Vladimir Putin!

MAGA Mike Johnson is blocking all Ukraine aid bills from being voted on in the House!

Their actions are killing Ukrainians!

I've read multiple reports of Ukrainian artillery falling silent because they have run out of US supplied munitions!

MAGA Republicans making America look like jackasses to the world!

Photographs are most helpful when you are reaching to remember that perfect moment in time. Today, I am remembering my son, who would have been forty-three this month. He was a beautiful child, a kind, loving, and formidable adult who lived his life on his own terms.
From the time he was this age, he wanted to drive trucks or heavy machinery. Even with intense pressure from his grandparents to go to law school, he did what he wanted.
I told him to be whatever he wanted to be.
As a long-haul truck driver, he had friends all over the country. He chronicled his adventures to 48 states and Canada with a photo diary. When he was done, he came home and drove a cement mixer for a living.
We were great friends and talked every day.
He was smart, well read, and social. He was thirty-five when he had a heart attack. His friends turned out to help us give him a huge goodbye.
Tomorrow, I will take flowers and say goodbye again.
