Amazon has done this strange new thing where all star ratings are now just a single star, alongside the % of the reviews that were 4 star or higher, which just seems a little confusing vs. just showing the overall star ratings. To demonstrate this I've picked a random book at random.

This metric dilutes the influence of 1-star and 5-star ratings. I wonder, how does Amazon benefit from this?
