How many times have we seen and read about reassuring early signs throughout these past two years? Reassurances that have peddled false hope resulting in complacency? A few things. Again, this editorial holds such a low bar as focus is again placed on immediate (1)

deaths and decreased hospitalizations in the acute phase of the disease. Again, long covid is placed in one obscure corner. Is this in the hopes that this topic is avoided so that we can all live our lives as we once did without seeing the need to change old habits? (2)

Has this doctor, who has time and again sounded the alarm about the dangers of repeat infection, succumbed to social pressure? Does he have to be reminded that deaths don't include those that we immediately see in the ICUs? Does he need to be reminded that deaths because of (3)

Sequelae because of Covid (pardon the redundancy in my prepositional phrases) are still deaths related to Covid? Does he need to be reminded that disease severity includes disabling symptoms that long haulers will have to go through? Does he have to be reminded (4)

@White_Bite I have seen someone on Twitter make the point that "long Polio" is what people were scared of.

@ParkinJim low about long HIV? Lol! But seriously, long Covid was a good way to describe what seems to be the chronic phase of the disease. It was good to raise awareness that such a phase exists IMO. But I think that this has to change now since it's more likely that Covid is a disease that can become chronic as long as the virus continues to persist in the body.
