It took eight hours between me posting some critiques of mastodon from within my area of specialization, within my domain specific knowledge, to being called racial slurs in the replies, not my DMs, the REPLIES to the critiques. Eight. Hours. There's also a delicious side of homophobia, too.

In comparison, I had to piss off STEM Twitter for about a week to get racism in my DMs, and I've yet to see any homophobia directed towards me on that bird site, though the night is young.

Not sure what this says about virality and the like, but it does say something about the immediacy with which mastodonians will reply to perceived attacks on the site with racism and homophobia.

I even got a homophobic meme as a reply, a first for me.
