"One last thing: whatever might happen, this is the final play. The chips are all on the table. The excuses to let FPOTUS slide are gone. Jack Smith will be the last special counsel. If he doesn’t indict Trump, no one will. And no pressure, but, as Gill writes, 'if this Special Counsel uses prosecutorial discretion to decline to prosecute, I think we can all agree that will be the death knell of the rule of law in America.'”

Access to outdoor space is vital for our physical and mental health.

But access isn't distributed equally: Black people are nearly 4x as likely as White people to have no access to outdoor space at home.

That's why it's so important that parks are kept available for everyone.

This is what working an aerospace can look like. It is ok to dress alternative, having colored hair is professional and being an artist in a science environment is valid.

@jerry @mitka There is so much truth in this quote by MLK:
"Our scientific power has outrun our spiritual power. We have guided missiles and misguided men."

OK. This is what I fought for in the 80s and 90s when men were dying all around me... COME OUT and don't take bullshit from anyone. And for the most part I am glad that most young people have taken that on board, but I still sense some hesitation in the youth...

Well fuck it. We had nothing to live for or to die for. And we did it for ourselves and hopefully the next gen. I really hope that they can do these things beyond being a status symbol... but who am I to say I suppose.

When people look for an image of Eigg the internet often shows our neighbouring Isle of Rum, taken from Laig Bay on Eigg. It's not surprising really - our west coast sunsets are spectacular. And when the tide is out, the sun reflects across the sandy beach, making our whole world golden.

An exquisite c. 4,500 year old rock crystal dagger blade which was discovered in a megalithic tomb, with two chambers, at Valencina de la Concepción, near Seville, in Spain.

Additionally a large number of crystal arrowheads were found together in the first room. The second chamber contained a burial, which was covered with red pigment made from cinnabar.

Challenged to name a single benefit of Brexit which is making peoples lives better right now the Treasury Minister couldn’t name a single one! If anyone still thinks this Government is not taking the public for fools please take 3 mins to watch this video

Meanwhile at #cop27 …

A Cabinet Office survey from last year suggested that more people aged 18-29 owned some form of photo ID than people over 65. But campaign groups have said that the figures for young people are likely to be an overestimate.

The Government’s plan to implement mandatory voter ID will significantly push back efforts to increase turnout amongst young people.

This is also not to mention the real danger that trans people could be turned away if their photo ID does not match their current appearance.

When it comes to democratic participation, the generational disparities are clear to see.

In the 2019 general election, turnout for 18-34 year olds was 54%, whereas turnout for those aged 65 and over was 77%.

Previous elections followed a similar trend.

But we're most concerned about how the voter ID rules in the Act could specifically disenfranchise young people.

❌18+ Oyster Card
❌16-25 Railcard

Generational gerrymandering?

We need the word “rejoin“ to have the same weight and significance as the word “Brexit“

@DavidHenig The interesting thing is that UK politics is so good at performative debates, especially in Westminster. And at the same time, has gotten poorer at more substantial, in-depth debates. I think it is part of the acceleration of politics where persuasive slogans count more than persuasive arguments.
