"When I first heard #Latinx in 2017, I thought it was progressive and inclusive, but I quickly realized how problematic it was. Five years later, Latinx is not commonly used in Spanish-speaking countries, nor is it used by the majority of those identifying as #Hispanic or #Latino in the U.S.
In fact, there’s a gender-inclusive term that’s already being used by Spanish-speaking activists that works as a far more natural replacement."
That's Latine

@nicedragon @TheConversationUS sorry but the use of an x instead of a vowel is an aberration of the language.
@nicedragon you are speaking in English, so Latino should be fine in any circumstance.
It's also a matter of generations, I think.
@Paul_Aguayo It doesn't flow for me, either. If the people it referred to wanted me to change, I would. But my non-scientific collection of acquaintances has seemed more comfortable with "Latino," "Hispanic," or, in one case "Latino/a" (pronounced with both ending vowels).
