It's the old joke about the US ambassador remarking on Soviet propaganda; the Soviet ambassador then comments on how their work has nothing on the power of US propaganda, to which the US ambassador exclaims "what propaganda?"

The Soviet ambassador smiles and says, "exactly."

What you say with your self-labeling as a "rational thinker" is that you're intentionally blind to your biases and irrationality.

It means you've fallen for a mythos of your own supremacy over others.

Which is why it's attractive to those told they were meant to *rule* society.

We do genuinely have a crisis of young men who were promised a life on top of the heap by the boomers, who utilized the crooked balances of our society to achieve that for themselves and then warped the scales further in their own favor.

They'd rather believe in that then in us.

Revolution is the only answer, however, I am reminded of the pitfalls of revolution as the same people who stood on the piled up bodies of ordinary people to reach the heights to which they aspired in capitalist societies, tend to do the same in post-revolutionary societies. Think of France where inequality is manifest (although not to the same extent as in the USA and UK). Think of Russia and of China where the commissars simply took the place of the high flying capitalists in order to get themselves and their families the best of everything whilst the ordinary people starved!
