I was unexpectedly folded up with silent laughter yesterday when sat out in the garden. I listened to next door but one's 3yr old girl exercise her new-found ability to say 'millipede' after her older brother told her what it was. She also remarked 'it's got no eyes, aww poor thing'...I was crying with laughter at the end of it...
When I lived in Thailand, they were regular visitors to my garden - these chaps
@Paulos_the_fog It most certainly wasn't one of those as both children would have gone screaming into the house! It was tiny, orange, multi-legged...probably a centipede...we get them in the soil here in the UK.
Millipedes like the one in the photo are totally harmless; they feed on rotting vegetation - centipedes are however, not harmless at all! They have a very painful bite/sting (not sure which)
