I was explaining to someone what it’s like to work in Silicon Valley big tech earlier this week over coffee and coincidentally used a lot of the same framing from this excerpt from Matt Levine explaining why AGI fears are common in Silicon Valley.
The strawberry picking AI story for reference. It is illuminating that AGI doomsday scenarios are all like “what if the AI was really smart but also a simpleton?”
