I know if you are British, you will think this is quite insane but here in Luxembourg the tax-year runs from 1st Jan - 31st Dec; crazy isn't it!
Anyway before Covid the deadline for submitting a tax return was the end of May (I think) but since Covid, for some reason they have extended the deadline to 31st Dec. I haven't done mine this year so it's bloody well time I did!
I am currently living in Luxembourg where the healthcare is absolutely world class!
I would be better off moving back to the UK but I hesitate as I have zero confidence in the NHS to look after my healthcare needs which are quite large!
It makes me so angry when I hear people banging on about "our wonderful NHS". The NHS under the tories has become a 2nd class service - not quite 3rd world but definitely heading that way. The services in France, in Belgium, here in Luxembourg, in Germany, in the Netherlands and in all other western European nations are infinitely better than the creaking, crumbling NHS!

I Stand With #Palestine 🇵🇸 People, Jews, Muslims,
I DO NOT STAND WITH ISRAELI GOVERNMENTS/MILITARY, HAMAS, UK & USA POLITICAL PARTIES 😞
The really sad bit is living in a country where crossing the road against a pedestrian light is against the law - most other countries aren't that Nazi about trivia - 'land of the free' - yeah right!
I too have noticed with utter horror the fast growing number of parallels between the behaviour and attitudes of the current Israeli government and the behavior of the Nazi regime in Germany in the 1930s and 40s
What to drown in raw sewage - I'd rather you didn't!
As horrifying as the death of innocents, especially children are in the violent attack by Hamas was, the greater number of deaths of children in Gaza in response has been met with near global silence from the halls of power from Saudi Arabia the UK, France to my USA.
I dont mind folks calling out the inhumanity of Hamas, as long as it is part of a conversation about the violent oppression of 6 million Palestinians.

Living in Luxembourg; an SUV paradise, I find the most annoying thing about them is that most of their drivers seem to be wholly incompetent! I live out in the country and I am sufficiently aware of the width of the car I drive (a Ford Mondeo) that I can accurately place my nearside wheels in the gutter and feel them rumbling over the cobbles they use to pave gutters here. The bulk of SUV drivers will respond by placing the obscenely large massively polluting vehicles smack in the middle of the road risking pushing me right off the road onto the fücking pavement!
Decimetres are not used for anything that I can think of, and I would therefore be surprised to see any measuring tool marked with them.
There are lots of theoretical metric units like that; who ever heard of a decametre or hectometre being used for anything nevertheless they exist, but hectolitres are used for wine production figures rather than litres or kilolitres - strange but who ever heard of a kilolitre being used to measure anything?
Centilitres are used for the contents of wine bottles but I have never heard of centigrams being in use for any purpose and so on...
...and for those who say Scotland is too small to be independent, Luxembourg is much smaller both in landmass and in population, unlike Scotland, it has few natural resources and yet, by at least one metric (GDP per Capita), it is the richest country in the world!
The Stanley tape that happens to be sitting on my desk (and shouldn't be) is marked in centimetres and millimetres - there are no metre markings at all. I guess they expect the user to know that 100cm = 1 metre.

For anyone who is interested, my header photo is of the most stupendous sunset I have ever seen. On the right is the waterfront of Vientiane, the capital of Laos, on the left is Thailand and in the middle, acting as the border between the two countries is the mighty Mekong river.
