By giving the tory scum an 80 seat majority, moronic British voters, particularly in the red wall constituencies, have destroyed the UK, have utterly destroyed the prospects of a decent life for their kids and grandkids and have deprived millions of a way of making a decent living - the country's fishermen, 1000s of workers in the Midlands who used to make car parts for the VW group, the workers at BritishVolt who are now facing redundancy and countless others.

Years ago, I worked for a branch of an American bank in Europe. One day, all the staff worldwide received an e-mail informing them that the banks share price “on the street…”, presumably meaning Wall Street, was under pressure and the management did not want to allow it to drop so low as to invite a hostile takeover bid. Consequently, the e-mail continued the management had decided to cut the staff headcount worldwide by, from memory, I think it was 650 to enhance the price of shares in the bank.
I was a party to the conversation between one of the directors of my subsidiary and some nameless senior manager in the you US, as it occured on speakerphone and the person talking at my end was a 6 foot Texan woman whose booming voice could be heard from a mile away! The senior manager in America was outraged that in Europe, you cannot simply sack people at the drop of a hat. In the end, the subsidiary that I worked for limited its redundancy to one single person who nevertheless, had to be given six months’ notice plus vacation days on full salary as that is the law in this country.

I fear it's something that is inescapable on social media. I get numerous similar approaches on Twitter! However, not so far on Mastodon, I'm happy to say!

Yes I get approached out of the blue by a lot of attractive women on Instagram but this one was the first to actually manage to get me to bother to respond. However, I think she needs to learn that going from zero to "I love you and you are my soulmate" in 4 days casual conversation might be just a little too brisk a pace and after only 8 days asking for money is definitely a no-no!

I did notice that she was following over 5500 people although relatively few were following here and that the majority of the people she was following were elderly males!

A woman approached me via Instagram sending me a message. I replied politely and asked her why in particular she chose to contact me; a question to which she declined to respond. we continued chatting and she posed a lot of questions about my life whilst telling me relatively little about hers and this continued for several days.
After four days, she declared that she loved me and believed I was her soul mate. After six days she was sending me pictures of her in her underwear whilst continuing to proclaim her undying love for her “soul mate”. Finally, after eight days she started asking for money!
Now whilst it is pleasant and mildly amusing to have somebody declaring their undying love for you on a daily basis, my red line was always “the moment she starts asking for money she can eff-off” and so the moment I received that request I blanked her.
90% of me just wrote her off as a con-woman hello specialising in ripping off elderly geezer's but the 10% left, wondered if she was suffering from some sort of mental illness; a psychosis of some sort or, more probably a manic bipolar episode.
The 10% of me that was concerned was relieved to see that she suddenly popped up as one of my followers on Instagram under a totally different alias but using a profile photo that was absolutely obviously my “soul mate” using a different name.
