#Newbies PLEASE be patient. The servers are being massively overloaded with an influx of people and it's taking the admins (in our instance, the wonderful @jaz ) a lot time, money, and effort to keep things afloat. It's not usually slow, things will return to normal, and you are all very welcome here! #TipYourServer
I was very surprised to receive a letter from the DWP this morning informing me that my winter fuel allowance payment will be £500.
I thought that once Britain fully left the EU, as I live in Luxembourg, all those sorts of discretionary payments would cease along with increases in pension payments, just as they do if you move somewhere like Brazil or to some other exoticretirement destination.
I guess somewhere in the small print of Blojob's "Dustbin Ready Deal" there must have been some stuff about mutual continuation of extra payments to pensioners. I'm surprised that the band of small minded fascists like Frost et al who negotiated the deal let extravagance like that creep into the text!
People grumbling that #Mastodon is slow at the moment... You just turned up with 1 million people in a tiny, rural village and you're complaining there's a queue to get into the only tearoom, which is run by gay pensioners Babs & Maureen as a retirement hobby on Mons-Weds. Relax!

I bought some A5 tabbed alphabetic dividers for the ring binder where I store all my logins and passwords for the 100s of internet sites I subscribe to. Like most of my Amazon purchases these days, they came from Amazon.de as they are usually cheaper than other Amazon instances and there is no Customs hassle with products shipped from Germany to me here in Luxembourg. It is clear they were conceived for German speaking world as they have separate tabs for 'S', 'SCH' and 'ST'. There is a preponderance of names beginning 'S', 'Sch' and 'St' in the German speaking world.

Another one from this morning on Glastonbury Tor. This was taken with the sun rising to the left and behind me. Some nice colours and texture in the clouds.

I do hope this complete idiot gets a lengthy prison sentence. It's one of the basic principles of hunting with firearms that you NEVER take a shot unless you have an absolutely clear view of your quarry so that you can, as near as is possible, guarantee a clean kill. If this clown had a clear view of his target, he could not have mistaken him for a wild boar! Also that you take extreme care about the area behind your target in case you miss or your round passes straight through your quarry.
Early morning. View from top of Devil's Dyke, Sussex UK.
I always follow back, and really appreciate and follow boosters

It's a sobering thought that it's cheaper, at £400,000 a pop, to send Matt Hancock to shag kangaroos in Australia than it is to illegally send one refugee to Rwanda.

Detest tories. Subscribe to green, leftish radical politics but not to any particular political party!.
Love the EU and all it stands for, moreover, I spent the last 10 years of my career working at an EU agency.
Enthusiastic photographer, especially wildlife and most especially butterflies.
Slightly knowledgeable gardener.
Atheist; loathe almost all religions and pity the people deluded enough to follow them. I make exceptions for Buddhism as it isn't really a religion in the strictest sense of the word as it doesn't postulate the existence of any god, and Jainism which is the epitome of peace.
For anyone who is interested, my header photo is of the most stupendous sunset I have ever seen. On the right is the waterfront of Vientiane, the capital of Laos, on the left is Thailand and in the middle, acting as the border between the two countries is the mighty Mekong river.
