Researching for an upcoming episode, I am interested in finding out, how different countries describe facts, and if they have multiple words for it.
In Danish, an indisputable fact is called a “kendsgerning”, and this word communicates that something is not debatable. For instance, it is a “kendsgerning” that the earth is round (an ellipsoid), and not flat.
Does your language have a unique word meaning indisputable fact, or even multiple words with different meanings?
@randahl exactly. It was interesting to think about it - word fact comes from Latin verb for done, and in Croatian the word for fact “činjenica” also comes from the verb to do - “činiti”. Guess it shows lack of apstract thinking in the times when the word was made- something had to be done in order to be true.
