@ae Correct me if I'm wrong, but that looks a lot like to me. Could be too, since it can be nearly any colour; including green. It's just that the smooth texture looks distinctly mossy to me.

@milan I wonder if that's exactly what developers are trying to prevent.

@mike And the next paragraph speaks of interest based advertising. Perhaps targeted advertising is the reason why smart TVs are everywhere nowadays.

Privacy policy update from Tivo. I read it in its entirety since they didn't summarize the update. The key thing to understand is that Tivo (a) just got bought (b) thinks of itself as an advertising company now.

The privacy policy explicitly states that they can and will sell / transfer every piece of information they can gather to advertising partners. What you watch, when you watch it, how long you watched it, where you watched it from, what device you used, which ads you skipped, all of it including a lot of personally identifiable information.

I strongly suggest setting your tivo on fire in a parking lot somewhere. If fire isn't your thing, get a bucket of water and give your tivo an extended and through bath. The solder points particularly need scrubbing with a wire brush.

@sesivany If you are a happy owner of a laptop with friendly hardware, the experience can be very smooth. However, wifi cards and are the most common reasons why you need to read and tweak the system be before it's ready for normal daily use.

@PunaisetPimpulat Fedora has a bit more steeper learning curve than Linux Mint because it doesn't include patented and closed source stuff, but once you learn to deal with it, it's a really solid distro and I've been installing it on computers of average users with very positive experience.

#thelinuxgamer reviews the #Librem5, #Birch phone by @purism

It sounds like the Librem 5 is making good progress in its performance. I am also seeing pictures of bluetooth from @todd, and gaming videos by @dos

Pretty soon we're going to have #gnulinux phones available, small handheld Linux computers!

@sesivany I've been distrohopping for longer than I dare to admit, but fortunately I also decided to try a few years ago. Perviously I thought or would be the distributions I could recommend to most people, but I'm beginning to think that Fedora should be the one I install on everyone's computer.

While visiting my mom I grabbed her laptop to upgrade the OS to @Fedora 31 just to find out, to my big surprise, she already did it by herself. And this is when we're reaching the "damn simple and reliable" mark, my friends. ✌

@Gargron
Mastodon is only one of the elements of the #fediverse, there is more efficient #Pleroma (and allowinger longer msg), #Pixelfed or #Anfora for pictures, #PeerTube for videos (and audio/w picture), #FunkWhale for audio only, #Plume, #WriteFreely & other for full blog, #ForgeFed for source code/#Git projects, #Diokeli for #research papers, #Mobilizon for events. All are united by #ActivityPub protocol, and some by #Zot6 too.

@ae That's great, and those are really nice photos nonetheless. Keep up the good work.

@ae Thanks for letting me know. I thought these photos were OC, but either they weren't clearly attributed or I just didn't read the post properly.

For the coming winter holidays, I'm giving you a quick introduction to enve, a new 2D animation tool for Linux, made by Maurycy Liebner :)

@kashi What about the situations when people understand something your words weren't intended to convey? Perhaps the inner circle could bulge outside a bit to cover those cases as well.
