Friends:

False equivalence and demoralization are fascist gold.

The MAGA set badly want you to give up any sense of idealistic striving. They need you to believe that the system is rotten and degraded. Once the full promise of democracy has been undercut, nobody objects to its being discarded. That’s their plan: to sully everything in the political imagination until the majority relinquish any claim to something better than their violence and sadism.

yeah. I'm a convert to the “kittehs inside only" club. Never lost a kitteh to a predator, but my brother in Massachusetts did. Also with indoor kittehs, the local wildlife rebounds because they're not killing stuff. Now that we have indoor only kittehs the hummingbirds have come back to our yard as well.
Our last indoor/outdoor kittehs brought all sorts of live and killed stuff back into the house. Quite...entertaining

Let's try this again. Hey, Mastodon! I’m Chibueze, a software engineer by day and a content creator by night/weekend. I’m an #animation and #technology enthusiast who owns @celsandcircuits, in which I talk about both subjects in mediums like podcasts, live streams, and pre-recorded videos. Ok somehow the poll expired almost immediately. I set it for 7 days but... I'm sure it was used error 🙃

Let's try this again!

PREP TALK

We're going to talk #preparedness for a min.

Do you have a backpack 🎒 near your door in case you have to #evacuate because of #fire #earthquake or even just a drill? It's a "yes", even if it's empty :) No judging. We're going to work on this!

***This will be a🧵 so it's easy to keep up on.

There is no rational reason for Mastodon to limit posts to 500 characters by default.

If the limit was 100s of KB, people who still wanted to divide every thought up into a thread still could; nothing stopping them.

But if someone wanted to post a gigantic essay, they also could, and I'd see a little "More >>" link and I could ignore them faster.

We have decades of history proving that length limits do not make people concise: they just make people post threads.

“Almost half of the munitions #Israel has used in #Gaza since the war began have been unguided bombs, a U.S. intelligence assessment has found...”

Anyone using their eyes rather reading/listening to propaganda has known this.

Which country provides Israel with most of its weapons? The US. These deaths are also ours to bear.

"Trump has said he would, on day one, reissue the #ScheduleF executive order. So the impact of that would be that as many as 50,000 civil servants who have any degree of influence over policy making roles would be subject to arbitrary firing, and it would be easier to fire them, essentially, and replace them with people who are deemed loyal to President Trump and his agenda."

Draw and quarter me like one of your French earls.

Every single person I know is currently at Grade A, Defcon-1, Ultra Premium Level exhaustion right now. So if you're scanning social media and this applies to you, let this be your motivational speech.

DON'T do thing.
DON'T go get it girl.
STAY in bed.
ORDER in.
EAT some soup.
TAKE a nap.
REST is not failure.
REST does not make you weak.
REST is not laziness.
REST is self care.
REST.

BTW, in case the irony doesn't slap you in the face here, it's pretty clear who is weaponzing the US government right now and for what purpose.

On Dec. 1, I tooted a bit about this bonkers House Select Committee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, which called a crazytown list of witnesses to disparage the CTI League, one of several organizations that sprang up in the wake of COVID-19 to respond to the crushing number of phishing sites trying to take advantage of the situation, and of hundreds of billions of dollars being poured into pandemic assistance funds.

The crazytown House GOP has been pushing a narrative that the CTI League was part of an insidious "censorship industrial complex" designed to censor the first-amendment rights of far-right GOP members.

The CTI League's Marc Rogers has penned a response to these unfounded accusations.

Did you know that movie studios colluded with the MOB to crush the labor movement? My video on the history of labor 💪 in Hollywood 🎬 got punished by the algorithm for whatever reason, but I hope you still watch it! More than any other video I've ever worked on, I think this one totally changed my perception of the history of labor, business, and politics in the US. It touches on lots of relevant topics, from right-wing fear mongering, to blacklists, to strikes. LINK: youtu.be/07bwL0fiM1A

"A security researcher uncovered a Twitter vulnerability in its link shortener. The vulnerability allowed an attacker to craft a malicious URL that, if a user clicked on it, would grant the attacker access to the user's account. The researcher reported the vulnerability to Twitter's bug bounty program, which closed the report as not worthy of a bug bounty. So the researcher published the vulnerability. Immediately Twitter takes its link shortener offline for hours while they fix it.But the press is only reporting on an hours-long X/Twitter link shortener outage, and has completely missed the security issues that led to it.Molly White's coverage of the vulnerability (sorry for the Xitter link but that's just the problem, literally no one else is covering this): twitter.com/molly0xFFF/status/ "

(All quoting a friend on a private slack)

twitter not paying whitehats. what could go wrong?

this one recently disclosed a vulnerability that would have allowed people to gain control of the twitter accounts of users who merely clicked malicious links

I don't think "felony murder" should exist, but if anyone should be charged in this case, it's the cops who went on an utterly reckless high-speed chase for simple burglary.
