This phenomenon has been known since the 70s.

So when in 2021, we are still making SCORPION units to "address the rising murder rate," it makes no sense at all.

Brutalizing Tyre Nichols makes the murder rate *go up* not go down. It makes it *easier* to get away with murder, not harder.

Think of any US city with a high murder rate.

Notice that it has a low murder clearance rate (they're not catching any murderers).

Notice that police brutality in that city is even higher than average.

I won’t link to the video but…
… gunning down a double amputee?
Not only is it horrifying but how do you even consider that after the murder of #TyreNichols?
It’s knowledge of their lack of accountability.
Monstrous.

Ella Irwin also explicitly directed Twitter to ban journalists like me. The fact that she has used her access to people's private messages should be a wake-up call to everyone on Twitter, especially journalists; how can you protect sources in a place like that?

If you can believe it, Stormy Daniels and that hush money payment from 2016 is back in the news because it’s back before a grand jury. This raises a whole lot of questions, not the least of which are why now and what about the time bar? The next 2 years will decide whether democracy survives in the United States. It becomes clearer every day that Big Journalism has decided not to take an activist stance in saving it. The 2022 elections seem to have persuaded journalists that we're safe now. What blindness.

A few days ago, there was a thread where people shared emoji versions of lines from Shakespeare. So, to keep things going, post a line, scene, or even entire play from Shakespeare ... in emoji!

Here's a short but memorable scene (especially to my then-grade-school aged kids): 🧑‍🦱❤️👱,🧑‍🦱📣🧱👱, 🧚🧑‍🦱(= 🍑)➡️🐴

And here's an entire play: 🤴🧙‍♂️⚠️🗓, 🤴👸 ⚠️ 🏛,🤴🗓 🏛🧔,🧔🗡🤴(8️⃣2️⃣🧔?)⚰️,🧔:👂⬅️👨‍👩‍👧‍👦, 👻 🧔➡️😱, ⚔️,🧔🗡🧔⚰️

(hint for the last one if still obscure: 🤴 = 💎👍🌊🌊👩)

What are some of your favorites in emoji form?

Damn, Ruth Buzzi.
Just DAAAAAAAMN

Is the guy who disenfranchised more Black voters than anyone alive worse than the guy who ended America's peaceful transfer of power?

I don't know, man. Sounds like the party that would nominate either is the real problem.

Nobody is “grooming” children to be gay or trans, but a lot of people are grooming boys to be mass shooters.

Hey you.

Yeah, you. In front of the screen.

Keep being weird. 👍

The best part about having several trans people on staff at the makerspace and coffee shop is that our membership and customer base become self selecting.

You have a problem with my staff, get the fuck out of my building and never come back. I'll remove you myself, physically, if I need to.

Tripuri (of the state of Tripura) Pork Salad Super spicy Wahan mosdeng pork salad/chutney. Best with steamed rice or as a salad on its own. Though called ‘Tripuri’, I recall Khasis (of Meghalaya) also do have this dish.

CW added for Vegans. #food #chutney #salad

Also, migrated to a new server so had to delete the previous 2 posts - will upload them again soon.

Above normal by the weekend; Minnesota cold not what it used to be

"While it is indeed cold out there, it’s not what it used to be. If we look at the coldest winter temperatures, they’ve warmed by about 12 degrees in the Twin Cities since 1970."
