If the International Astronautical Federation (#IAF) wants me to submit an abstract for #IAC, they need to choose better locations. Disqualifying for me, in no particular order, are...
1. Countries that are autocratic/dictatorships or vassals of autocrats/dictatorships.
2. Countries that engage in wars of territorial conquest against their neighbors or occupy territories against the will of the populace.
3. Countries where it is illegal for a citizen to be an atheist.
4. Countries where it is illegal for a citizen to be openly gay or trans.
5. Countries where women are given significantly fewer rights than men.
Making it affordable would be a plus, too. Maybe turning the IAF into a non-profit would be a good idea.
Dubai? Fail. Paris? Expensive. Azerbaijan? 😂
I put up a little Good Omens thing as a Valentine's Day present to the world on Tumblr. https://at.tumblr.com/neil-gaiman/madam-i-said-i-do-believe-that-you-have/ihvw9jkbgryo

Think for youself, don't be a sheep
The tag #FediBlock is a SUGGESTION not a RULE!
Check it out for yourself and decide but stop forcing other people to follow your crap
Personally I find 'blocking an instance because they won't block /any/ other instance' big bullshit
First of all, you don't get to dictate the rules on any others instance to begin with and secondly why should you be bothered by this?
If you block that /any/ instance it's done and you won't see stuff for it anymore but stop shaming others for not making the same decision, that's very childish
"I block you because you won't block them" <-- ignore that bullshit please
@stux It would be the end of the fediverse if "blocking because you don't block" is applied universally. I will not do it.
I prefer silencing, it means crap doesn't''t leak into timelines if you're not looking for it. But blocking is making an absolute decision for all the people on my server, and I think it it up to them who they follow, they are grown-ups and can make their own decisions.
GOP's big "Twitter hearings" backfired BIG time. Instead of proof Dems pressured Twitter we learned Trump as Pres DEMANDED Twitter remove Chrissy Teigen's tweet mocking him. Plus Twitter allowed Trump to spew hate+incite violence in violation of rules. My new MSNBC:

These bales were small enough to manually lift out of the water into possibly a fishing boat. Cover them with fish and nobody the wiser.

I keep seeing articles about Mastodon slumps, and journalists going back to Twitter. Is it fair to say, that maybe Mastodon isn't for journalists, or brands, or even people who want large accounts? Maybe Mastodon is true social media, for people who want to interact and discuss, not be influenced, sold to, or manipulated with cult style tactics and followings. There will always be groups who dislike the idea of the people controlling their own inputs, people who don't like the idea of accessible Administration, and people who don't like the idea that if we don't like a space that we can just move to another one, or even create our own. Individualism is scary to the kind of people who thrive on complacency, and not challenging the status quo.
It's kinda funny that multiple times in this video in which Marc Andreessen is in conversation with Adam Neumann (yes, that Adam Neumann) he mocks how as cities get successful, their residents don't allow the building of new homes. He specifically calls out SF. Yet, Andreessen himself is, famously, doing exactly that himself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BgK9KW9APfA
