Political violence

A Bernie Sanders volunteer attempted to assassinate republican legislators, successfully shooting one, now a San Fran area anti Trumper attempts to knife/kill a republican candidate.

We don't preserve our democratic Republic through trying to murder each other. Perhaps the constant hysteria should tone down.

The key to taking down the United States is to destroy Waffle House. It's actually the cornerstone that holds our society's stability.

@trayofbees You're turning the poll results into fake news! I think that's a change I could believe in.

@SecondJon I like giving countersignal in polls.

"I support Hillary Clinton because of her strong support for the Second Amendment and semi-automatic rifles"

"The most important issue for Pennsyvanians? Clearly it is the low quality fertilizer sold at Home Depot."

@trayofbees
I get lots of polling calls. I HAVE had casks from Rasmussen, my local major metropolitan newspaper, and other serious looking companies, but it's mostly "blah dee blah researching". I won't answer those.

Of course I wouldn't answer the newspaper anymore after they followed up with an interview and misquoted me on the front page of the paper in election coverage once.

The future is here today : you can't play Bach on Facebook because Sony says they own his compositions

James Rhodes, a pianist, performed a Bach composition for his Facebook account, but it didn’t go up — Facebook’s copyright filtering system pulled it down and accused him of copyright infringement because Sony Music Global had claimed that they owned 47 seconds’ worth of his personal performance of a song whose composer has (...)

No matter which social network you're on, following a diverse group of people helps you taking a peek at the other side of your personal filter bubble.

You don't have to agree with everything and everyone, but please, at least try to listen to people and their opinions.

It will help you appreciate your own life, and may just make you a little wiser.

I know Trump drama is in the news as if he's literally Hitler; meanwhile a communist government is ratcheting up a crackdown on Christians, Muslims, and other religious citizens, demanding loyalty to the ruling party alone.

" China’s government is ratcheting up a crackdown on Christian congregations in Beijing and several provinces, destroying crosses, burning bibles, shutting churches and ordering followers to sign papers renouncing their faith, according to pastors and a group that monitors religion in China."

" All of China’s officially recognized religions appear to have been affected by the crackdown. In the most extreme example, an estimated 1 million Uighurs and other members of Muslim minority groups in the country’s northwest have been arbitrarily detained in indoctrination camps where they are forced to denounce Islam and profess loyalty to the Communist Party."

I say this as someone who codes professionally and for fun: insisting everyone can learn to code is wrong. It’s like saying everyone can learn to play the violin. Furthermore this sentiment is too often used as a cudgel to silence debate on systemic problems with the labor market

I have never met such an interesting, engaging, and inclusive crowd anywhere else on the Fediverse or internet. You give me hope that social media can be a wonderful and enjoyful place, hell even enriching at times.

I love you all keep it up!

@Shrak
Is the article saying that opposition to socialism makes one a far right white supremecist? It says the trend is anti racist, racial uplift and civil rights progress... Doesn't seem extremist. Is the article just calling anyone who isn't an advocate or socialist ideas an extremist?

"the far-right is trying to broaden its appeal from a whites-only movement in a multiracial America, so it is 'laying claim to the ideas of anti-racism, racial uplift, and civil-rights progress.'"
