@zerohedge
The article starts with an assertion that the federalist (and anti federalist) papers prove the nation was all united in principle. But wasn't that two sides writing in opposition to each other, not in unity with each other?

The article ends with :

An uneasy co-existence, not coerced unity, is the only hope for calm in our country.
Respectful disunity is the only way forward.

I agree with the repulsion of coercion, but wouldn't respectful disunity describe the federalist and anti federalist days also? Agree to be respectful and engaged with each other, while retaining differing ideas?

I wonder if the bigger difference is that we shout emotions, scare quotes and insults today rather than exchanging ideas like the (anti) federalist papers attempted to do.

@DrChris
I was wondering what the salute was. It's the smart phone photo salute. :)

I do wonder if we'll be surprised this week as we were 2 years ago.

@peterdrake
Maybe I'm not reading correctly. If European countries have democracy yet no birthright citizenship, how would the US having the same policy be the end of democracy.

This chaos must stop, it's terrible! Vote for change! The number of employed Americans has never been higher. The 156,562,000 Americans employed in October is the twefth record set under President Donald Trump. CW for length, more jobs numbers below.

@peterdrake
I agree that the economy turned around when democrats lost the legislature under Obama.

I don't think the president actually gets credit or blame single handedly for the economy. There are many complex factors. My point is more that things are going swimmingly but it's hysterically portrayed as utter chaos that must. be. stopped.

This chaos must stop, it's terrible! Vote for change! The number of employed Americans has never been higher. The 156,562,000 Americans employed in October is the twefth record set under President Donald Trump. CW for length, more jobs numbers below.

In October, the number of employed men age 20 and up -- 80,405,000 -- set the 12th record since Trump took office; and likewise, for the 12th time, the number of employed women age 20 and up set a record, reaching 70,909,000 in October.

The unemployment rate held at 3.7 percent, the same as September, which is the lowest it's been in decades -- since the end of 1969. And the Hispanic unemployment rate, 4.4 percent, has never been lower.

The unemployment rate for African-Americans, 6.2 percent, remained near the all-time low of 5.9 percent set in May.

On top of those numbers, the economy added a whopping 250,000 jobs last month.

Heard an argument today that we should ask live in GMT or some other agreed upon time, ditching not only daylight savings but also fine zones. Not a bad idea, the sun may rise for me at 1400 or 0200 either way we'd get used to it fairly quickly I suspect. And scheduling international phone calls would be simple too.

Finally walking away from work several hours late - I've started taking on writing up specs for our development team, a responsibility that has not been staffed well so I've volunteered. CW for length

As a developer I've always preferred designing and building new software solutions rather than putting my time into:
- tracking
- documentation
- QA

These things still need to be done.

I've run my own consulting business before and hated the billing and collections side of things. Meanwhile I've also led billing and collections departments before. I think it's de-prioritzing what isn't my *primary* responsibility.

The last 2 days I've taken on no development work (aside from rapid prototyping and testing out ideas as I work through the architecture design has been fun), in favor of leading a new process for how we document requirements and functional designs.

It's been strangely... fulfilling, discovering that that this forces me to work through issues well in advance of when we'd find them without the formal spec writing process; it helps to get the business and the technical team on the same page and having more in depth and meaningful conversations.

@dewb I strongly disliked K's opponents leaking claims of victims to the media to use them as a political tool. It detracts from real victimization and encourages false claims like this which further detract from real victimization.

Led by Jim Look-At-Me-I'm-Jim-Acosta Acosta , a caravan of activists wearing press badges has begun their march to America's southern border to flee from the tinpot dictator who has led us through multiple Armageddons, deaths of millions, and has democracy on the brink, offering to trade places with the caravan of central Americans that are marching north.

Trump is bad for saying he's a nationalist not a globalist, because that implies that he believes his country is better than others.

Meanwhile, a caravan of folks is marching through several countries to get to his country because they evident think that his country is better than others, and they're good for believing that.

is dumb in and elsewhere

Plant Microbial Fuel Cells let you enjoy both plants and solar energy at the same time!

Plants use light to produce sugars, and some of those sugars get deposited into the soil via the plants' roots. There, the plant sugars nourish soil bacteria, and with some clever use of electrodes, you can steal a little of the metabolic energy from those bacteria.

Essentially, you're using a living plant as a solar cell. It doesn't give you very much electricity but it's cool. 🌱☀️

While Clinton instructs her party to continue incivility until the dems grab power back and holder instructs people to fight on the streets and waters commands to publicly harass those who disagree politically. And while Trump continues to be Trump.

This is not a single sided issue. We all need to stop encouraging hysteria and need to work to lower the temperature of the discussions. and treat each other with excellence.

Right, over exaggerating Trump over exaggerates. Would you say that your claim that this may be the death blow to democracy is also over exaggerated and also typical of your toots?

I would prefer that we all tone down the hysteria.

“So, I turn to all of our elected leaders, because hate doesn’t know a political party. I turn to them to say tone down the hate. Speak words of love. Speak words of decency and of respect.”

Thomas Sowell is great. "Envy was once considered to be one of the seven deadly sins before it became one of the most admired virtues under its new name, 'social justice.'"
