No-one should be “pleased to announce” a conference that is fully in-person.

We live in the 21st century and I have attended successful conferences that were 100% online with EXTREMELY successful networking built in.

I like travelling, but conferences are not a good way to see the location beyond the conference room and some business district restaurants. They are, however, the perfect petri-dish for picking up an illness, I noticed.

@tinebeest It would be interesting to see a reason why 'unfortunately' a conference has to be in person. But that's not the way many people think.

I think my department chair announced a retreat we did for curriculum review that way, because it was easier than the hassle with zoom. She is ab fab, obviously!
