Written by Ric Ocasek and sung by heartthrob Benjamin Orr. Released on Elektra Records, Let’s Go was one of two singles from the album Candy-O, which peaked at number 3 on the U.S. charts. The single peaked at number 14.
The b-side is a non-album track titled That’s It, also sung by Benjamin Orr.
Let’s Go was, in my opinion, an instant classic, and Candy-O as well as it’s predecessor, the eponymously named The Cars were incredibly good albums, full of great hooks and melodies from start to finish.
The artwork here was done by pinup artist Alberto Vargas, and was also used as the cover for Candy-O.

You know, that used to happen to me. Years went by before it dawned on me that many of my favorite songs of theirs were sung by Ben Orr. So I started to pay more attention and became better at telling the difference (not saying you need to). But I’d probably still get tripped up today if I did a blind album listen. They are close.
