@neverfadingwood No doubt, both women and men who have been rapped tend to get the short end of the stick, both in different ways. But I find it interesting how it is always the victim of rape, regardless of sex, that are given a hard time. Like something about being the victim of rape causes people to loose respect for you or something.

@freemo @neverfadingwood It looks like she brought the issue up in therapy sessions in 2012. She didn't come forward to anyone in public, though. So I don't think this was a situation of allegations being ignored in 2012 only to come to light again now, so much as these documents proving she's talked about this *before* Kavanaugh's senate hearings.

That is an important piece of the puzzle that adds a certain amount of trust to her statements as a victim, at least for me. Telling a therapist about these issues is an extremely different forum- it doesn't reflect on Kavanaugh at all- it means she was trying to work through it 30 years later.

Unfortunately something that happened 36 years ago is going to be a difficult thing to prove in a way that law enforcement will be satisfied with.

That being said, yeah. There is most def a victim blaming culture for people who survive rape or sexual assault. I don't, personally, understand why anyone would blame the victim of a crime for the crime.

@Surasanji My comments were not about this case. I just want to be clear I am not aying there is insufficient evidence, nor am I saying there is enough evidence. Only that we should judge on evidence. I think the talks with her therapist should count as some evidence.

@freemo @neverfadingwood Yeah, I figured you were speaking more generally, Freemo.

And no problem, NeverFading. :)

I'm doing some quick research<TM> and it seems the school has had issues in the past with sexual assaults, and a wide range of alumnae want something to be looked into, so. There might very well be something very serious there to look into.

From WikiPedia: On September 20, it was revealed that more than 1,000 alumnae who attended Ford's high school, Holton-Arms School, between the 1940s and present day had signed a letter in support of Ford's call for a "thorough and independent investigation" before she testifies before the Senate Judiciary Committee.[107] The letter also stated that the school has a long history of similar incidents.[107] These signatories also stated that they were "survivors" who either heard about or experienced sex abuse at the school.[107]
