Ha, the weebos are still upset about my comment concerning how rare it is to come across white people that one can have a conversation with in a rational, calm and stable manner.
It's funny because their unhinged frothy mouthed retorts of how RACIST I am is a great illustration of why the original comment is so relevant in these spaces.
I'm a reasonable person. If you believe me to be wrong, state your case. The most effective way of engaging with me is talking to me as a person.
However, there hasn't been one person who has disagreed with the sentiment that can do so in a rational intelligent manner. Not one.
It's either classically racist taunts or less than clever strings of insults meant to antagonize, intimidate, demean, etc.
Ha, which kind of proves my point about how insufferable white people are.
See how that works?
@Are0h It is difficult to disagree with a sentiment that is totally valid.
I'm Jewish, from the US, so I've got that light skin going- but I've never felt or identified as white. People say some truly racist bullshit- especially when they can't scope you out just by checking skin color. I've been treated like total shit just for my ethnicity.
They always claim it is a joke or that you're too sensitive. It's like an abuser mentality- turn it around on the victim. Make it THEIR FAULT that these things happen to them. Happens all the time.
My friend, you are legitimately upset at a situation that has no easy fix, largely because the people involved are typically tone-deaf and would rather live with the happy lie than the uncomfortable truth.
They don't like that an articulate man of color is making noise of any kind. That you can further discuss and rationally explain your position only makes them more uncomfortable.
The culture needs to change to be more equitable to all parties. Just because a lot of motion in that direction has been made in the last hundred years doesn't mean we're done with it, though. Are things better than they were for everyone in 1919? Yes.
But better isn't always good enough. We're simply not where we should be and the inequities remain.
Anyways, for what it's worth I've found your point of view enlightening and generally interesting to follow. I don't always agree with the way you say things, but I can't help but agree with what you're saying- the substance of it.
That's because it's truth.
@Are0h Totally, dude. Your passion about it is very clear, and the situation quite frankly is total bullshit nonsense that should NOT be a thing in the 21st century but STILL IS A THING IN THE 21ST CENTURY.
Anyways, for whatever internet support from somewhat random strangers is worth I got your back on this one. You aren't doing anything wrong.
@Are0h Correct. Their cognitive dissonance isn't your concern.
Human beings are able to change, although it sometimes takes a great deal of hard work and pain to do so. It is unfortunate that so many people are unwilling to step out of their comfort zones to see how things really are for other human beings.
@Surasanji Agreed. And they want to make it my problem because I won't capitulate with that unwillingness.
But that's my not my problem.
@Surasanji There is such a thing as objective truth. There is such a thing as decency and fair play.
Many media outlets convolute these concepts for the sake of profit, but they just don't go away because people want to pay less attention to logic, empathy and reason.
My position to cut to the heart of the matter about certain topics offends people's personal sensibilities because they don't want their perspective to be pierced by reality.
And that's not my problem.
