The former Director General of Antonov has been served with a notice of suspicion by the National Police due to negligence resulting in the destruction of the world's largest AN-225 aircraft, Mriya, by Russian occupiers. The damage caused to the state is estimated to be over UAH 8.4 billion. It has been established that the former official, despite warnings from state authorities and knowing for certain that insurance coverage for the aircraft had been terminated, failed to ensure the relocation of the aircraft to a safe place. As a result, during an air attack by Russian troops on the airport in the village of Gostomel, Mriya was destroyed. Additionally, it was established that the AN-225 Mriya aircraft was technically sound and ready to take off on the eve of Russia's military invasion of Ukraine, however, the former Director General of Antonov did not issue a corresponding order and ignored the reports and suggestions of his subordinates. Investigators are also checking information about the possibility of evacuating six more aircraft, including the An-124 Ruslan, which were at the airport at the time.
