THIS WILL PUT THE FEAR IN YOU.
During the Prigozhin mutiny, Wagnerites attempted to gain access to nuclear weapons stored at the Voronezh-45 base, located approximately 100 km away. They intended to take possession of small Soviet-era nuclear devices to increase the impact of their rebellion. The only thing standing between them and the nuclear weapons was the door to the nuclear storage facility, which was locked, preventing them from reaching the technical part.
@TheOldGuy In the 80s I watched a film of Special Forces testing US nuclear safeguards by trying to steal a warhead. Getting into the depot & a bunker went pretty quickly, but they were significantly delayed by the alloy of the cage holding the warhead, which re-fuses when they used a cutting torch on it. Doubt the Russian guard system is that advanced.
