From The Analyst:
DEVELOPING SITUATIONS
Over the past week the industrial production snoopers who keep eyes and ears on Russian military output have been reporting.
Back in March this year Russian military equipment manufacturers had their biggest output month since the Cold War.
Since then with the demands of the digital draft sucking up manpower from factories - which were specifically targeted because they were easy pickings - large corporations such as UralVagonZad who build the tanks, have lost so many skilled personnel they’re unable to maintain three shift production.
This is a widespread phenomenon caused by the government itself seeking men for the army. Overall production by September in key military industries was down by 30%.
Added to this, nonpayment of bills by the state and increased interest rates, which are levied on businesses who borrow money to keep going - because the government legally established they have to continue to finance production even if they haven’t been paid, is crippling them financially.
This has resulted in the state back-door nationalising businesses it sees as essential but still failing to finance them properly or train new workers.
The meat grinder at the front needs bodies no matter where they come from or, what they know or do.
In the past few days it’s become clear Russia has been filling its missile stockpiles and drone deliveries are high. They look set to start their winter infrastructure attacks on Ukraine - indeed some have already started.
However it may well be a two way street this time as Ukraine has held back much of its longer range drones for a couple of months and as
Russia started Ukraine seems to have returned fire on oil refineries and storage in Krasnodar.
On the drone subject since October 21st Russia started deploying a new type of Lancett-based drone which has a target discrimination camera and onboard target recognition software. A loitering weapon, it now waits until it finds the right type of target, ID’s it and then decides based on its remaining fuel, how long to wait for something better without loosing sight of what it’s already seen.
That requires sophisticated programming, optics and microprocessors- so where are they coming from because Russia doesn’t make them?
President Zelensky is increasingly finding his unequivocal support for Israel has upset the Arabs he spent so much time cultivating over the summer - and President Erdogan of Turkey has been leading major pro-Palestinian demonstrations. These have cratered his relations with Israel which have only recently recovered over issues in Syria and disputed ocean floor drilling rights.
The Gaza situation continues to worsen with Iran’s President demanding action.
Meanwhile the Ukraine peace formula discussions have been happening in Malta attended by many but unlikely to make the slightest difference. It’s basically Ukraine paying lip service to the process and nothing is going to change.
The pressure in the coming months on Ukraine to compromise and give up on its maximalist demands for the return of all territories is going to intensify. If they loose Avdivka it will be inevitable.
Slava Ukraini 🇺🇦!
