From the Analyst:

UKRAINE HITS KERCH SHIPYARD

As the battle for Avdivka continues to rage, mostly a combination of artillery, drones and waves of Russian infantry attacks trying to push towards the coking plant, Ukraine dropped another surprise on Russia.
The Kerch shipyard was on fire and large explosions heard across the town, with a good chance a Russian warship was hit while already under repair.
Heavy cloud cover with rain and wind has prevented air strikes by either side and complicated the use drones, although rain and brighter weather next week is likely to see an intensification of fighting.
Politically, there has been strong rejection in Ukraine of any peace talks or demands for peace talks following media reports that Ukraine would be pressed into these.
Russian trolls and media manipulation are exceptionally good at magnifying these stories and one leading source noted that they had significantly intensified their efforts in the last week. This followed a period of noticeable calm - almost as if they were waiting for instructions and refining a new campaign for the winter. Beware of what you read on mainline social media platforms like Facebook which is riddled with misinformation, X, instagram etc. if you don’t know who they are and they have no track record, pay no attention.
President Zelensky responded to questions over what General Zaluzhnyi wrote in The Economist, not directly but indirectly and in a way that sort of implied he hadn’t been asked before it was done. You could read it both ways but it didn’t look like he was overly pleased about it.
It didn’t help that later yesterday the Ukrainian head of special forces found out he was fired on social media. It turns out he wasn’t really fired as such but that there’s a reorganisation of the command structure with SBU and he’s part of that.
A survey conducted a couple of weeks ago indicated that a huge majority of Ukrainians (81%) didn’t want elections until after the war, and almost as may said they wouldn’t trust the results if done electronically because the Russians would do their utmost to corrupt the process. It seems that might well be the end of that debate.

Commitments today prevent me from making further updates. Please have as peaceful a weekend as you can wherever you are.
