🇦🇺🇺🇦Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, Australia has provided almost 1 billion Australian dollars in aid to Ukraine. In particular, 730 million is military aid.
This was announced by Australia's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Bruce Edwards during a meeting in Kyiv with the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Stanislav Heyder.
🔊"Our help and support to Ukraine is a moral obligation and national interest of Australia. What is going on in Europe can happen in the Pacific region. Therefore, all countries should see the consequences they may face in the event of an attack, and understand the importance of cooperation between friendly countries in this context," said Bruce Edwards.
Stanislav Heyder, on behalf of the Minister of Defense, thanked the Government and the people of Australia for effective assistance and a proactive position in support of Ukraine and the entire civilized world.
He told his Australian colleagues about the priorities in the work of the defense department, which are implemented at the system level.
🔊"In December 2023, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine will present a plan for deep transformation of the Defense Forces. Rustem Umyerov's position is to build an institution capable of becoming effective and resistant to challenges. We are aware of all the challenges facing us, but we also clearly understand what we are fighting for. Time is the greatest value that we have no right to lose ," Stanislav Heyder noted.
Ambassador Bruce Edwards expressed his admiration for the bravery of the Ukrainian people and their desire to win in the fight against the Russian aggressor.
"You are faced with a powerful challenge - to implement a series of changes at a time when the war is ongoing. Ukrainians sacrifice their lives for the sake of the free world, for the sake of democracy. I want to assure you that you will not be alone in this war ," the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Australia emphasized.
