“We have to make the invisible visible.”
I believe, perhaps naively, that air cleaners designed to be more aesthetically pleasing/integrative to spaces- visually noticeable and attractive- can aid in a literal sense. If 12V PC fans are indeed an efficient method of improving IAQ, they are compelling for use in varied designs (varied like lighting, or desktop PC cases). Standard filter form factors impact & limit design, as they are intended to be hidden (in rectangular ducts) with high flow centrifugal fans. Canister filters proportioned for and securable to 140mm fans could also serve as unitary design elements for modular devices.
@cleanairstars @CathNoakes I'd also note standard filters vary from nominal dimensions across manufacturers. Ideally, a 'fixture' would facilitate easy drop-in replacement (e.g. no taping) of standard sized, manufacturer-agnostic filters while ensuring adequate seal (fit). This allows for competitive bids on filter supply and lowers overall maintenance cost.
@WilliamRamsey @CathNoakes There are some great possibilities ahead in design to ensure the most effective and affordable options are available at scale.
