#IAQ Recalculated fixture performance for 2" & 4" deep MERV-13 & MERV-14 filters using ASHRAE efficiency values and filter surface areas ( from Jim Rosenthal). Highest CADR with 4" MERV-14 (233 CFM). Download spreadsheet here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/10876l7wQnEMgXvk6rNdkifDWkJxTmRru/view?usp=drivesdk
It seems I'm vastly underestimating the surface area of a 20x20x4" filter. Which is good for performance I suppose but makes estimating (with spreadsheet) confusing.
#IAQ Fan Fixture Zones w/ estimated performance (800 square inch MERV-13/fixture assumed), compared to ASHRAE proposed standard:
#IAQ 140mm 12V Fan Fixture Zone. A central transformer can (ideally) distribute power to multiple fixtures.
#IAQ 140mm 12 V fan fixture and grouping comparisons. (Powering (3) 4-fan fixtures may be more performant than (1) 12-fan fixture.)
#ASHRAE Advisory Public Review Draft
Control of Infectious Aerosols. Curious as to relative filter sizing of MERV-13 vs. MERV-14 when paired with 140mm fans in fixed systems (fixtures) and portable cleaners, as well "m-CADR" determination. #IAQ https://osr.ashrae.org/default.aspx
Housing similar in construction to strip light (inverted). End caps detach to couple fixtures. Filter frame/media can be wedged between housing sides and weather stripping for adequate seal.
#IAQ Fan & filter array assemblies using roll of welded wire mesh for framing. Ex. MTB SS304 Stainless Steel Welded Wire Mesh 24 inches x 10 feet- 1/2 inch x 1/2 inch Mesh 18GA(1.2mm) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076WSJ39Z
Some notes on general filter 'sack' design, if you can imagine the drawing as a sheet of filter media #IAQ
Example of 4" "mixed flow" fan. These are commonly used in w/ indoor grow ventilation. Also note some Noctua fans have higher static pressure than ARCTIC P14s, performed better with this filter.
Idk #RamseyCylinder sounds better. Rubber forms seal. Fan shrouds below. Also note some 4" inline fans and 6" (with reducer) can also attach.
