“Since Florida opened teaching roles to veterans without a bachelor’s degree last August, the initiative has only netted the state 11 new teachers, according to the state’s education department, raising the question of whether lowering standards is an effective solution to the shortages.”

@ohiofi this effort to bring in veterans was never intended to work in actually filling openings and shortages. It's intended to demonstrate the public school's system (which they are undermining and working hard to destroy) is not functional or sustainable, and needs to be replaced by a privatized system that will
1) underwrite the private education of the wealthy who send their kids to private school.
2) destroy what is a public good, a foundation of democracy.

@ZingerLearns @ohiofi I am more scared for our profession than I have ever been.

@jeffmoore @ohiofi I share that concern, especially in places like Florida, Texas, and Arizona, where there would be a distinct possibility of my ending up fired or in jail as a teacher educator.
