The headline was "Should professors eliminate deadlines?" and is now "‘Procrastination-Friendly’ Academe Needs More Deadlines" which is a bit less click-baity, I guess. We're really grappling in the teaching-methods/course-design sphere with the disconnect between traditional teaching practices and the practices of actual human beings, aren't we? Interesting read, but a more nuanced starting point, please.

In the pedagogy conversations I'm engaged in and those I'm reading online are focused on how much structure do students need and how do we manage flexibility in ways that work for both students and teachers. Absolutely no one is saying "all deadlines must go!" #Teaching #HigherEd

@lewriley I find the "so you're saying no deadlines" to be a very unsophisticated and bad faith counter argument by inflexible and traditional instructors who don't with to engage in meaningful pedagogical conversation.

@ZingerLearns This and perhaps also journalists or their editors looking to manufacture controversy and drive traffic.
