@elyseea the thing of it is, that it may not be winning nationally, but it is winning locally and regionally. We can see these bans "working" at the district level and at the state level in places like Florida and Texas.
I honestly find it terrifying, especially when thinking about the history of book bans and burnings.

And beyond the actual bans, there’s the effect of self censorship and a zeitgeist that communicates it’s OK to limit free inquiry, let alone suggest that certain people and lifestyles are “vaguely criminal.” Lots of organizing to do, particularly at the level of parents and school board elections.
The larger numbers, though, might suggest to state level politicians who see this as a winning strategy that they won’t derive the bump they’re hoping for.
