That @drewharwell is cool as hell: "Hell, no. I’m not deleting a tweet that contained factual information and didn’t violate anyone’s rules,” he said. https://www.washingtonpost.com/media/2022/12/23/musk-twitter-journalists-suspended-elonjet/

If we’re upset about Maggie Haberman and Peter Baker, we’re also upset at the execs and editors at the New York Times.
NYT execs have built up a juggernaut. Political entertainment coverage is a big part of that business strategy.
Fix the business of US news to fix US news.
Ah.
But the NY Times editors and execs hired Maggie Haberman BECAUSE she is friendly to Trumpworld.
Probably Peter Baker, too.
The reason has to do with the business of US political news.
The problems aren't just about Haberman: they're structural about our media. (Media reform now.)
Here’s the story: in thread below. /1

Just a reminder to add descriptive Alt Text to the photos being posted. There are lot of people who unfortunately miss out on the full hotness of #BlackJoy and we can help.
For example of take a look at @clayrivers posts. Brotherman's Alt Text game is excellent!!!

An interesting article out in the LA times prompted by parents' concerns about the opacity of grades and their disconnect from learning.
@randy this goes to the point you raised about parental/caretaker involvement and voice in #Ungrading, and importantly we don't often hear their voice in grading or grading policies. I don't think enough attention is raised around the issues parents have with grades and grading, and the harms associated with the nature of grades themselves, as well as their opacity. The pandemic and grading changes related to it were often counter to supporting student learning and well being.
Do you teach teachers about #ClimateJustice instruction, or are you working to refine your pedagogical practice?
Today we published a new OER teacher ed lesson plan focused on climate justice teaching in #SciEd:
⚡️ (W)holistic Science Pedagogy & Climate Justice by Drs. Alexis Patterson Williams and Salina Gray ⚡️

Agreed, which is why (IMO) we rethink writing and integrate it into teaching rather than having its role be assessment alone. Of course, that is something I was taugh at rather progressive undergraduate and graduate education schools.
One big part of self care that I discovered this year when I broke my leg is asking for the help that you need. Asking for help can be really hard. But, NOT asking for help is failing to take care of yourself.
Help might mean help getting around, or help managing your emotions, or help figuring out what kind of help you need.
Educator friends, our responsibility to teach #informationliteracy and critical thinking has never been more important.
"If we lacked the imagination to suppose that a President would incite an attack on his own Government, urging his supporters to 'fight like hell,' we lack that insight no more," the report says. The lawmakers add:
"The best defense against that danger will not come from law enforcement, but from an informed and active citizenry."

“Much of the moral panic over “cancel culture” – which animated Musk to buy Twitter in the first place – is a reaction to the fact that traditionally marginalized groups gained technological means to affect the political debate.”
“From a democratic perspective, it’s highly problematic that tech oligarchs like Musk are amassing so much power and influence. They are not democratically controlled in any way or guided by any concern for the public good. Musk is yet another example of how short the path from a certain kind of libertarianism to the far right is, a reminder that this type of libertarianism is driven by a desire for freedom from regulation and criticism of any kind.”
The next day we toured The Midway aircraft carrier. My Uncle Ralph served on that ship so it was extra cool to see it in person.
The hangar level was huge as was the flight deck and bridge.
It was cool to see the helicopter that recovered several Apollo mission capsules from sea. And they had the aircraft Chuck Yeager flew on the flight deck.
