People who have attended online conferences with real-time text chat between attendees: what system did it use, and did it work well?

@christianp I used gathertown before and that was pretty good. I also helped run a conference and gathertown were willing to sponsor it so we got the platform for free iirc
@_jcken we've used gather town for a couple of meetings, and it doesn't seem that most people are happy to leave it on between talks in a way that would allow for informal conversation. I think text chat is easier to lurk in
