I think data entry routines should include a feature such that if they detect that you're typing gibberish, tests it against a few obvious keyboard transpositions on the supposition that you might be touch typing with your hands in the wrong place, and if the result makes sense, just silently convert it without bothering you about it.

I am struggling to imagine a reasonable use case, is the use case valid?
@admitsWrongIfProven The use case is that you're touch-typing and you haven't noticed that your fingers aren't on the home keys of your keyboard. The result looks like nonsense.
But it would be simple to dynamically test that nonsense against obvious keyboard transpositions resulting from various possible mispositioning of your hands, and if one such transposition produces sensible results, just substitute that automatically.
@pieist I doubt part of that, but some light might help...
I just have to think of how i tried to engineer a complex solution and someone told me how easy it could be - some light, maybe? Dimmer switch to the rescue! Or just a nice notch on f and j. Smartphones are for self hurting anyway, so no difference there.
@admitsWrongIfProven Clearly you drink less and/or use non-backlit keyboards in the dark less than I do.
