Sooo just a reminder:

Dresses were the norm for boys in 100+ years ago, and the color pink was a color for boys as well.

Oh yea and in the 1700s it was normal fashion for men to wear high heels.

But hey, lets make up whatever fake history we want to make gender norms sound like they have always been the same and that "cross dressing" and "drag" are somehow new inventions.

@freemo Isn't the thing more about where personal boundaries should be than what was fashion?

Social norms are enforced by approval or disapproval, and that's fine in some frame.

Problem a)
"disapproval" that turns hostile is not a helpful thing, in general.

Problem b)
Missing disapproval for things that actually hurt others is a problem, since it means accepting harm. For example: accepting scams would be harmful to all that are easy to scam. Gouvernment might not be able to keep up, if there was no secondary incentive.

So i would try to draw a line alongside "does this hurt anyone?" and let fashion be fashion. Because how people dress is generally a thing where any more than "i do not wish to interact" falls into problem a, and would mean we arrive at problem b if it is tolerated.
