Just managed to find a way to break even and now it's just a waiting game for checks to come in

Is the cpu project an art thing, a try to actually do something practically usable, or a distraction?

Checks to come in... is that like "i should get payed for my work, but i wonder if i actually will" or something else?

Willing to talk about any of those, yet general ethical / meta discussions are more to my liking.

@admitsWrongIfProven The CPU project is self-education and yeah probably distraction, still trying to implement that Risc-V CPU
I'd honestly rather be playing War Thunder or Beamng right now but my computer can't handle them
It's not that I'm not getting checks, I just have not been having a fun time between being a bit short on hours and trying to balance a 30% margin on a <$25k income *before* taking out anything but bills

Short on hours, i think i have heard about that from the us, like employers arbitrarily scheduling you for less work than agreed upon?

Here, people are just fucked clear and simple, no work, not part of the machine. As far as i gather, all i struggled with was idiots, not work...

I've only been able to get about 32 hours out of both of my jobs so far, and no I'm only paid hourly, there's no contracts, I've been trying to get more hours in at one job to make up for the lack of business at another with no luck
That other job should be waking up as the year does, but until then things are TIGHT because the first job doesn't pay for shit

You are from canada, not the us? The stereotype that one job would not support you is what i heard of the us.

"Burn it all down" is a friendly description for such shenanigans. I hope you can sustain yourself, even if the environment is not meant to accommodate that.

@admitsWrongIfProven I'm from the US, I'm right next to the border (a 10 minute drive) so a lot of the more local stuff is shared (though a lot of the overall economic and political stuff is shared too, between the US being both a strong arm for the world and an older brother to Canada)
That being said, Canada still has a few one-ups on us in quite a few fronts
