So often, I'm reminded about the broken state of IT today. Barriers to entry everywhere are ridiculously high.
Self-hosting anything is incredibly stressful, often requiring you to be skilled as a system administrator to the point where you could make a living off of it.
I know why, of course.
Capitalism rewards enclosure. Money flows to companies who want customers on their terms, so solutions are designed to service thousands of people and for professionals to operate.
We need #SmallTech.

There are 2 ways to sign up to the United Federation of Instances, for those wondering.
We have over 200,000 members but looking for more before launch.
One, and the most important, is as an instance admin bringing your instance onto the UFoI. For this you dont need to do anything other than ensure you follow our basic code of conduct. See the proposal/by laws for that:

Other than that you dont have to do anything to be a member, and you can be a one person instance or a large instance. You do need to promise to federate with other instances in the UFoI. Also you can leave at any time, no questions asked, so not much obligation.
The other is as an individual.. for that just let me know and ill give you access to everything and add you to the list of contributors. In this case you arent under any obligation either, you can join in on conversationsn, suggest edits, or just lurk. Up to you. Message me if you want to be a contributor and ill add you and check out the repo here:

An asylum-seeker was deported from Sweden to Turkey yesterday, in spite of the fact that the man has been sentenced for alleged "PKK-association" to near 7 years prison in Turkey's prisons where political prisoners and especially PKK-related such are well known systematically tortured and/or held in torturous conditions, this is a clear violation of Sweden's obligations to UN's "Convention Against Torture" (see pic),
but as the govt-controlled news-media (now: all) in Turkey blared today, this is a huge win for dictator Erdoğan currently struggling to in spite of all the systemic cheating, coercion and State-propaganda pull off a victory in the upcoming election,
which is "extremely probably" why there is intensified wars of aggression, NATO-extortion and attacks against LGBTQ+ rights.
The high potential for torture as well as lack of rule of law is why the Supreme Court has previously rejected extraditions and deportations to Turkey, which hasn't improved but rather gotten drastically worse recently.
The man's lawyer comments "This is not just a matter concerning him, but most of all concerns the Swedish democracy and human rights.", whilst the "responsible" minister claims they had nothing to do with it, as that would indeed violate the constitution, but the minister's claim is unproven.
