For those who don't know, #JohnMastodon was accidentally created when someone at a news org mistook the hashtag #JoinMastodon (which Twitter banned) for the name "John Mastodon." It has now become a running joke.

Amazing how one little mistake can propagate.

I hear you. There is a tendency for our brains to believe anything they read/hear as true. It's generally a useful shortcut for dealing with life, but it can lead to problems distinguishing fact from fiction.
