Wonderful project @JoachimFuchs Do you have any data yet on variability in the self-assembly of the brain?

Hi everyone at fediscience #introductions I'm a postdoc in Berlin, my background is cell biology & biochemistry. I use this now to (try to) un...

Thank you @albertcardona ! Personally not, I just started a few months ago. But others in the institute have worked on an optic lobe cell type (LC14/DCN) with stochastically determined numbers that seem to matter for behaviour, check: doi.org/10.1126/science.aaw718

There also appears to be quite some variability in connectivity & morphology when flies grow at different developmental temperatures: doi.org/10.1016/j.celrep.2021.

Bit biased examples from our group but certainly what got me excited to join 🙃

@JoachimFuchs You are welcome! And these are indeed great papers on brain wiring sensitivity to the environment. Foundational even. No wonder they’re inspiring.
